If you’ve dreamed of playing as Tywin Lannister, balancing alliances with threats and deceit, and perhaps letting Littlefinger run your intelligence service – then Game of Thrones: War for Westeros will become your new digital addiction.

The newly announced PC title from Paradox Interactive is landing in 2026, and as we know the Swedish strategy house, it will hardly be for casual clickers. This is going to be complex, brutal, and full of political drama – just like Westeros.

Paradox Takes on Westeros

Paradox Interactive is known for their deep strategic titles like Crusader Kings, Stellaris, and Europa Universalis – games where you don’t just click on units but lead dynasties through centuries, negotiate, betray, and balance religion, diplomacy, and rebellion. With War for Westeros we get the same, but with swords, dragons, and an Iron Throne on the horizon.

The game promises to let you control the great houses – Lannister, Stark, Targaryen, and the other power players – with a focus on both military dominance and political maneuvering. Expect espionage, intrigue, dynastic marriages, and all the grime that made the series irresistible.

Game of Thrones in a New Form

After the series wrapped up in 2019 (let’s not talk about the last season), fans have missed a new way to delve into the icy, bloody, and dramatic universe. This isn’t the first GoT game, but it will likely be the first with real depth. Forget quick QTEs and linear narratives – this will be calculated strategy over decades, where your choices shape the future of Westeros.

We don’t yet know how the gameplay will function precisely – but with Paradox at the helm, we can expect character-driven stories, complex decisions, and a true game of thrones, where one wrong move can cost you the entire kingdom.
