Pixar Confirms ‘Incredibles 3’: New Director Takes the Helm
Ready for a third installment?
Pixar has finally greenlit Incredibles 3, and the upcoming film is getting a fresh injection of energy with Peter Sohn in the director’s chair. Sohn, best known for Elemental, surprised many with its visual flair and heartfelt themes – and now he gets the chance to bring that touch into the superhero universe.
A Legacy with Heavy Weights
Brad Bird, who created and directed both The Incredibles and Incredibles 2, has chosen to step back. However, he’s not letting go entirely – he will still be writing the script and serving as producer. Pixar boss Pete Docter and Bird reportedly agreed that the franchise could benefit from a new perspective, while Bird focuses on his passion project, Ray Gunn.
Peter Sohn is something of an apprentice from the old guard, which brings a good balance between new and classic. His experience in both animation and emotional family dramas makes him a natural fit for this project.
